The Physio and Pilates Rehab Centre fully comprehensive course is the only Bristol based Pilates training course to be recognised globally. It is affiliated with Alan Herdman who is a world renowned Instructor and brought Pilates over to this country in the 1970’s.
It was developed and affiliated with Alan Herdman over 15 years ago and has become a leading course in the South West. The successful trainees will gain a qualification in the industry recognised throughout the Pilates world because of this affiliation.

The course covers all aspects of Pilates training, from beginners mat work to advanced equipment work (Reformer, Trapeze, Combo Chair and Ladder barrel), including knowledge of most conditions and special populations with a focus on rehabilitation.
The course usually takes between nine months to one year with one day per week (Thursdays 9.30am – 3pm) of in person structured training sessions and anatomy lectures. Trainees are also expected to put in as many extra hours as possible in attendance at either the Bristol, Clevedon or Taunton studio (at no extra charge), initially to practise and eventually to assist.
We usually run the course on term times which means we will break for a couple of weeks at Christmas, Easter and slightly longer for summer plus some half term holidays.
Students will be given a PPRC Exercise Repertoire Booklet for each piece of equipment, General Mat work and Remedial Mat work . These will be used for reference and notes.
The training will include knowledge of:
- Breathing
- Core stability
- Postural alignment
- Flexibility & stretching
- Adaptation & modification of certain exercises for various injuries and conditions.
The Equipment training will cover exercise repertoires on each machine listed below, together with care, maintenance and health and safety issues.
Pilates Machines:

You will learn how to progress these exercises in order to provide a more challenging work-out but you will also be taught adaptations for remedial clients and special populations.
You will become familiar with each exercise through demonstration, observation and practice.
Students will also be given a PPRC basic Anatomy booklet and PPRC Pathologies and Conditions booklet to study alongside the lectures which will cover:

During the course the students will be given anatomy assignments to do at home and then undertake four written PPRC anatomy examinations:
- The skeleton
- Muscles & their functions
- Joints & soft tissues
- Conditions & special populations
Anatomy and Physiology examination:

- Mat work assessment,
- Alan Herdman assessment
Towards the end of the course they will undergo a Mat work assessment and an Alan Herdman fully comprehensive assessment in the studio.
Successful students will be awarded a Physiotherapy & Pilates Rehabilitation Centre Teacher Training Certificate for equipment and matwork in affiliation with Alan Herdman Pilates.

Course Fees
The cost of the course to include affiliation with Alan Herdman and use of Clevedon, Bristol and Taunton studios.
A registration fee will be required to secure your place. This will be deducted from the total fee.

Upfront payment: £4500 (less £500 registration fee) £4000
Payment by instalments: £4750 (less £500 registration fee) £4250
