Equipment based Pilates

Pilates is a very effective exercise regime that strengthens the core muscles and improves joint alignment, posture and flexibility. Physiotherapists use it widely in the rehabilitation process. The Pilates machines used in the studio such as the reformer and Cadillac work by providing assistance or resistance depending on the client’s needs via a gentle system of springs and pulleys. For clients requiring rehabilitation the machines can offer a greatly enhanced Pilates session as compared to matwork alone. This is because they are designed to provide assistance and support to allow improved joint alignment and muscle activation. Over the years we have  seen the enormous benefits gained by clients who do Pilates particularly those who have a variety of conditions including Parkinson’s and Motor Neurone Disease. As well as the physical benefits, the person’s sense of well-being is often very much increased.
